Under His Wings

Under His Wings

My way was filled with danger,
I felt alone.
The enemy had singled me out to do me wrong,
And when he drew near my heart filled with fear,
Then I heard Someone dear calling me to His side.
And I ran under His wings,
There He covered me and now I can sing.
And the enemy still looks for me,
But what he can’t see is that I’m under my Lord’s wings.
Under His wings.

Thunder roll, dark clouds hung low,
I was out in a storm.
Shivering in the coldness there,
no safe retreat from harm.
And there blew strong winds,
Would this be my end?
Then I heard my Friend calling me to His side.
And I ran under His wings,
There He covered me and now I can sing.
And the storm still rages but in the Rock of Ages
I’m nesting warmly here under my Lord’s wings.
Under his wings.
And there He covered me and now I can sing.

Under His wings, under His wings,
Who from His love can sever?
Under his wings, my soul shall abide,
Safely abide forever.

  1. There is a 3rd verse, the Ruppes didn't sing but The sisters do. I was glad to hear that the Sisters decided to include it...I think Brenda would have but there was some limitations on the amount of time on that album. My aunt Wilma wrote it....along with a ton of other songs, most unpublished.

Nighttime came the shadows fell, I could not find my way.
The terrors of the night took hold and I yearned for break of day.
But He saw my plight and out in the night He shined His light and he called me tenderly.
And I ran under His Wings........

  2. wow! thank you so much for sharing! and how neat that your aunt wrote it, it is most definitely one of my favorite songs of all time- I get teary-eyed listening to it. I was going through some pregnancy complications when I first heard it and it brought me so much comfort- the words of the song.
